Augustine Classical Academy Description

Augustine Classical Academy (ACA), by partnering with families, exists to provide an education that is both classical and Christian; to equip students to know, love, and practice what is true, virtuous, and beautiful; and to challenge them to strive for excellence as they live for the glory of God and for the good of all people.

General Position Description

The head tennis coach is responsible for coordinating, planning and attending the team practices and managing the team during Monday matches during the summer 2024 season. It is vital that the coach has leadership skills that are reflective of our shared Christian faith, in the ways that they communicate with their athletes, encourage them and conduct themselves while at practices, matches and while working alongside families. The coach should be confident and experienced in tennis skills. The head coach must be able to build upon athletes’ performance as the season progresses. The coach is responsible for cultivating an environment where student athletes are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed in their sport. The coach must have good and regular communication with parents/guardians during the season. The applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and implement practices thoughtfully for the age group and skill levels of the student athletes.
  2. Must consider different skills, rules, strategies, conditioning throughout the season
  3. Observe and assess individual needs of the student athletes as they progress through the season and as they prepare for Monday matches.
  4. Maintain frequent communications with parents regarding practice location, dates and times, any changes to the location/times of practices, expectations for practices and matches, along with communicating any cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances that would lead to the abrupt cancellation of practice
  5. Supervise student athletes during practices and while attending matches
  6. Maintain accurate forms and information necessary for match play
  7. Frequent communication with the Athletic Director regarding any needs or changes that occur during the season.

Additional Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Required

● Ability to foster Christ like characteristics foundational to students sportsmanship during practices and matches with their opponents and their own teammates

● Approach athletes successes and failures in a God honoring way

● A love for tennis and a desire to help develop student athlete’s appreciation of tennis as a sport

● High energy and takes initiative when planning engaging practices, encouraging young athletes

● Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

● Must clear full background check

● Complete an online health/safety course prior to the start of the summer 2024 season

Experience Requirements

● Must have attended tennis matches either as a participating athlete or as an assistant/head coach

Employment Type
Seasonal – May 2024 to July 2024 Consistent with Junior Team Tennis schedule posted here.
Working Hours: (2) 1 hour practices a week; attend Monday matches during the 2024 summer season

Salary

$20/hour
