Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Industrial Arts Teacher will provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for each student assigned to that classroom. The Industrial Arts Teacher is responsible for developing a student’s interests in auto mechanics by using skills and techniques that is consistent with school guidelines. The goal of this position is to develop understanding on engine repair, heating and air-conditioning systems, welding, or wood- and metal-working and to discover and to expand the talents of students in the field of industrial arts.
Additional Information:
- Develops a program of study in the industrial arts that meets individual needs, interests and abilities of students as determined by the industrial arts curriculum.
- Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids on various topics related to the industrial arts.
- Assures the safety of students by demonstrating and using the proper safety procedures.
- Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
- Assigns lessons, corrects homework, and provides students with positive feedback and constructive criticism on assignments.
- Administers tests to evaluate student’s progress, records results, and issues reports or conducts meetings to inform parents of progress.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
