The Special Education Teacher (“Teacher”) is an integral member of Community Reach Center’s Day Treatment (“Division”) Division. The Teacher collaborates with clinicians, psychiatrists, and community partners to offer participants both education and therapeutic services. The Teacher provides educational and support services to school age consumers to develop an individualized therapeutic and educational approach that considers the whole child. Additionally, the Teacher will have other duties and responsibilities as determined from time to time by the Director of Special Education.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains confidentiality of consumer records.
- Plans and implements individual programs to address student needs according to the student’s individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
- Creates and implements engaging lesson plans.
- Participates in/facilitates IEP and other educational meetings to discuss progress toward developmental, emotional, social, and behavioral goals.
- Completes educational reports and records as required.
- Participates in preparation for and transitions to public special educational programs.
- Attends and participates in group sessions, in-service education and training, opportunities, meetings, supervision, and special events. Participates in review of program policies and procedures.
- Provides program milieu coverage and support as assigned.
- Works collaboratively with clinical staff to address mental health needs.
- Provides direction to Teaching Assistant on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Special Education, or a directly related field. Master’s Degree in Special Education preferred
- Must be enrolled in Special Education Program; leading to licensure or endorsement as a “Special Education Generalist” Teacher.
- Must be eligible for TTE, SOE, SEE, or alternative teacher’s license.
- License with the Colorado Department of Education with endorsement(s) appropriate to Day Treatment Program (i.e., Special Education Generalist).
- Direct experience with the population specific to the day treatment program (i.e. age range, disability) preferred.
- Communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting is required,
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 7:45 am to 3:45 pm
Salary Information:
**Sign on Bonus up to $4,000**
Position Pay Range: $57,000 -$87,100 annually.
Starting Pay Range: $57,000 to $73,000 annually.
