Qualifications:
- Possession of a collegiate professional or postgraduate professional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement in Technology and Engineering Education grades 6-12.
- Due to the various courses offered for Technology and Engineering Education, specific industry certifications may be needed by the qualified candidate to teach courses where the students will sit for an industry certification test. At this time, this is applicable to individuals seeking initial licensure from the VA Department of Education.
- Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Technology Education or Engineering are highly preferred.
Experience:
- Experience teaching secondary 6th – 12th grade specialized technical courses within Technology and Engineering Education.
- Responsible for providing instruction on a wide range of technical equipment used in the business industry.
- Experience with integrating the latest technology education and engineering curricula with content from core disciplines.
- Understand and working knowledge of VEX Robotic systems, digital electronic principles and control systems
- Familiar with robotic programming languages, such as C++ and Python.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials, provide appropriate learning experiences, manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning.
- Willingness to collaborate with regular education teachers to integrate interdisciplinary opportunities and look for natural connections between curriculums.
- Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for state, institutional, and individual reporting purposes.
- Manage the behavior of learners in an instructional setting to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process, and assist and participate in management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site.
- Manage the safe use and operation of the lab and lab equipment.
- Instruct students on the safe use of lab equipment and appropriate behavior within the lab and classroom.
- Integrates student organizations leadership activities with curricula content and participates in after school activities within the school, district, region, state, and nationally.
- Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or assigned.
- Foster partnerships and ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
